Someone appeared on an online forum in the late 90s mysteriously claiming to be a time traveler from the year 2036 and calling himself 'John Titor.' Although his claim was outlandish, he provided a lot of explanation about his time machine and how it worked. He explained that he was a temporal soldier on a mission. Some of his predictions came true; John himself claimed that not all of them would due to the divergent timelines created by his time traveling.
