Until recently, a technique called "targeted dream incubation" or "dream incubation" was assumed to be science fiction stuff from movies like Inception. Now, it's becoming a reality. Scientists have developed tools to facilitate the incubation of specific dream content, making dreams targeted and measurable; they use sensors to determine when an individual’s sleeping brain is receptive to external stimuli, then introduce smells, sounds, flashing lights or speech.
