When the initiate enters the Masonic Lodge, even for just the 1st Degree, they are blindfolded, then forced to put a noose around their neck, roll up their left pants leg, take off their left shoe and kneel before the altar – where they must then take serious oaths. If a man ever violates his masonic oath, he agrees he will be killed in a torturous way. The initiate is deliberately misled; it is not intended that he shall understand the symbols and purpose of Masonry, which is reserved for the adepts.
