In 1995 Mike 'Mad Man' Marcum, then 21 years old but with 2 years of electrical engineering study under his belt, set out to build a Jacob's Ladder device (a relatively simple device of 2 parallel wires, between which a spark 'climbs' up) with a laser from a CD player. His device produced a heat signature, like you would see off of a hot pavement, except this one was circular like a vortex. He threw a screw through the vortex to see what would happen, and it disappeared for half a second! He then borrowed (stole) 6 old transformers from his local power station to give his device more power, browning out portions of the town. Where did Mad Man Marcum vanish to? Did he create his own time machine?
