Orson Welles was a talented actor and author. The War of the Worlds was an episode of the American radio drama series, performed the night before Halloween in 1938 on the CBS radio network. Narrated by Welles, the episode was an adaptation of H. G. Wells' novel by the same name. Although at the start of the program it was announced that it was fiction, many Americans took at as factual reporting of an alien invasion from Mars.
