Gary Webb was an investigative journalist who wrote an eye-opening book called "Dark Alliance" which went to great lengths exposing the CIA's drug war. Basically, the CIA dumped massive amounts of crack (cocaine) in south-central Los Angeles, then used the proceeds to fund its illegal and surreptitious overseas wars (regime change operations). The most notorious was their arming of the Contras in Nicaragua. Webb explains the mystery of why crack started in black neighborhoods. Webb was found shot dead in his home; the verdict was "suicide."
