While the US Government maintains an official policy that UFOs are not real, some of their employees and ex-employees differ. Luis Elizondo was a former director of AATIP (Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program), a secret investigatory effort funded by the Government to study UFOs, but it was not classified. The program was first made public on December 16, 2017. The report uses new jargon: UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon).
