Western science acknowledges the placebo effect, but doesn't like to dwell on it, as it's an uncomfortable reminder that, in some cases, a sugar pill or no treatment at all can heal better than drugs and surgery! But why? How does the placebo effect work? And if we don't need medicine or treatment, why don't we just heal ourselves straight away?
