Senator Paul Wellstone died in 2002 in a plane crash, but the evidence suggests it was an assassination. Wellstone was regarded as "the conscience of the Senate" as he was one of the few senators who opposed the war in Iraq and tax cuts for the rich. He was a thorn in the side of the Republican Bush administration. He even wanted to investigate 9/11!
